Lavradores de Feitoria launched its first Late Harvest (2010) in 2014. If the debut was applauded, the 'Três Bagos Late Harvest white 2011' promises to surprise the palate – and the soul – of the consumer even more. This late harvest of the Semillon grape variety, produced with botrytized grapes (noble rot) similar to the renowned Sauternes, reveals an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity. Its careful fermentation at low temperatures and a one-year aging in French oak barrels gave this delicious wine an enormous unctuousness and complexity.
Paulo Ruão, Director of Oenology at Lavradores de Feitoria, describes it as a wine with a bright, lively golden straw colour; and a very exuberant aroma, with citrus notes, nuances of fig, honey and some apricot. In the mouth it is very pleasant and reveals itself to be fresh and full.
This was the wine that Lavradores de Feitoria was missing, since until then the Douro producer – who had not ventured into the production of Port wine – did not have any “dessert nectar” in his portfolio; although its consumption is not limited to that gastronomic moment, for which it should be served at 11ºC.
Due to its positioning and also because it is a very limited edition of 1000 bottles of 375 ml, it is a special wine from the beginning. It is already available on the market, with a recommended retail price of €11.00.
It is not a wine for or by women, but it is still a tempting option to offer or taste on 'Mother's Day', a date that this year is celebrated on May 3rd.
