25 years of Douro Collective

25 years of Douro collective

We are farmers, with our own vineyards and ideas of a Douro that is made by many hands.

A new way of being in the region was born with us: confident instead of sceptical, joyful instead of sad, united instead of isolated, sharing instead of competing. From the beginning, we believed that together we could do what would be unthinkable alone.

We share grapes, wineries, knowledge and, above all, vision. We cultivate time, care and fair value for those who work the land. Each bottle we create carries more than just wine: it carries the character of our farms, the knowledge of our farmers and the identity of a plural and fairer Douro, where tradition and innovation go hand in hand.

We are a collective that believes in the future of the countryside. In the continuity of families, in the vitality of villages, in the sustainability of vineyards. We work for the preservation of the Douro. And we toast to what it can be.

Lavradores de Feitoria. Wines with a shared origin. A DOURO COLLECTIVE.

Meet the people and know the stories that brought us here:

25 years of Douro collective

Jorge Dias Company Founder 1st Chairman of the General Assembly (2000 - 2002)

Lavradores de Feitoria

He was there at the inception of the project, with the visionary idea of uniting Douro farmers around a common vision, bringing together the necessary investment and commitment of the 15 founding farmers, laying the foundations for the original team.

His deep and vast knowledge of the Douro, resulting from his Douro origins and extensive and diverse professional and institutional activity, made it possible to build a vision and ambition that materialised and endures at Lavradores de Feitoria.

António Barreto Presidente da Assembleia Geral (2002 - 2020)

Lavradores de Feitoria

With his charisma and persuasiveness, he managed to keep the farmers united during absolutely critical periods for the company, especially in the early years of the project. It was his intervention that led to the creation of the first brand with grapes from all producers - 3 Bagos.

A native of the Douro, he has a deep knowledge of the region, its history and its people. He is the author of an extensive bibliography dedicated to research on topics ranging from emigration, the evolution of Portuguese society, justice and regionalisation, and a portrait of the Entre Douro e Minho region.

Dirk Niepoort Administrador (2000 - Presente)

Lavradores de Feitoria

His deep knowledge of the Douro region, his vision for a more united Douro (based on commitment and unity between viticulture, oenology and commerce), and his willingness to join the real project of cooperation between farmers brought him to the project. He was instrumental in developing several commercial partnerships and in gaining recognition for Lavradores de Feitoria as a producer of high-quality wine.

Teresa Albuquerque Producer Shareholder Chairwoman of the Board of Directors (2024 - Present).

Lavradores de Feitoria

She joined the Board in 2022 and was elected Chair of the Board of Directors in 2024. She is the Managing Director of the Casa de Mateus Foundation, an essential reference for its important role in the cultural, heritage and educational enhancement of the Douro World Heritage region. Casa de Mateus has been one of the company's main shareholders since its foundation and supplies grapes for some of its most emblematic wines, such as the innovative Sauvignon Blanc.

Inês Albuquerque Producer Shareholder Board Member (2024 - Present)

Lavradores de Feitoria

She was one of the main driving forces behind the commercial side of Lavradores de Feitoria in Portugal in the early days of the company. She returned to the company in 2024, when she took on the role of administrator. She is one of the company's main shareholders, supplying grapes for iconic wines such as Quinta da Costa das Aguaneiras.

José Lacerda Founding Producer Shareholder Board Member (2024 - Present)

Lavradores de Feitoria

With a long family history in grape and wine production in the Douro, he is one of the founding farmers. With his enthusiasm, collective spirit and belief in the company's role in the region, he is a great driving force and a reference for the other farmers.

Paulo Ruão Director of Oenology (2005 - Present) Board Member (2006 - Present)

Lavradores de Feitoria

He is the mentor and creator of Lavradores de Feitoria wines. With a wealth of experience gained during his time in Bordeaux and a deep understanding of the Douro in all its various aspects and dimensions, he is the creator of a line of wines that favour freshness, elegance and balance, but always with the unique and distinctive character of the Douro region, one of the classic regions in the world of wine.
