A COLLECTIVE DOURO
In 2000, 15 Douro farmers joined forces in a unique collective project, based on diversity, association and collaboration to make better wines together. Sharing a common vision and with the aim of making quality wines, these producers took the risk of creating their own company and, at the same time, taking control of the destiny of their vineyards and grapes.
We seek to value those who work the land, to ensure the sustainability of the vineyards and the future of the Douro region - UNESCO world heritage - while preserving our identity and unique way of life.
From the vineyards scattered across the 3 sub-regions of the Douro, at different altitudes and with varying sun exposure, the grapes arrive at our winery in Sabrosa, which opened in 2021. Here we produce our wines, which prioritise freshness, elegance and balance, but always with the unique and distinctive character of the Douro region, one of the classic regions in the world of wine.
HISTORY OF THE NAME
The Marquis of Pombal, founder of the Douro Demarcated Region, selected the best wines from this region, offering them to the most demanding wine lovers in the country and around the world. These were known as “vinhos de feitoria” and earned well-deserved respect for their extreme quality.
At the turn of the century, farmers from the Douro came together to make a dream came true that was as simple as it was ambitious: to bring together “farmers” to make “Feitoria” wines. This is how Lavradores de Feitoria was born, bringing together different knowledge and experiences, both ancestral and contemporary, from viticulture to marketing.
VISION
To be a collective of farmers recognized in the world of wine, who believe in the future of the Douro – a World Heritage Site – and who inspire current and new generations. A collaborative model that preserves the identity and wine culture, innovates, combats desertification, and proves that it is possible to do better – together.
MISSION
To create wines and experiences that express the character, diversity, and richness of the Douro region, based on a sharing model where farmers, vineyards, ideas, knowledge, and vision come together in a commitment to sustainability, identity, and fair valuation of agricultural work and the region.
VALUES
SHARING | Since our origin, we have shared grapes, knowledge, winery, management and production model, risks and results, based on a spirit of solidarity and decentralization. We believe that together, we can do what would be unthinkable alone.
IDENTITY | Each wine carries the character of the vineyards, the people, and the Douro region. We produce wines with origin, authenticity, and regional expression.
COMMITMENT | to the land, to the farmers, to sustainability and to the future of the Douro region, reflecting our intention for justice, continuity and a positive and lasting impact.
