On 'Three Kings' Day', Lavradores de Feitoria begins the wine year with the second harvest of its newest reference: 'Três Magos', oops..., 'Três Bagos Reserva red 2014'. One intends to follow up on the first edition, a wine full of fruit, but marked by seriousness and balance, the target of wide praise from critics and excellent acceptance among wine lovers.
A red wine in which the Douro's fingerprints are present throughout the tasting: in the colour, almost opaque; on the nose, very seductive; and in the mouth, with a harmonious and long finish. A new bet by Lavradores de Feitoria in what is the upgrade of the 'Três Bagos red'. The company has undergone institutional rebranding, and the new image (lettering) is already reflected in this new edition.
Like the 2013, the 'Três Bagos Reserva red 2014' is the result of a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. The vines, which are over 30 years old, give it the charisma and elegance needed to once again become an excellent suggestion from Lavradores de Feitoria. Half of the new 'Reserva' blend was aged in stainless steel vats and the remaining 50% in new and second-year French oak barrels for around a year.
The result is a red wine with a bright, almost opaque red colour; elegant and quite aromatic, it is a fresh wine with discreet and well-matched wood, with the predominant aroma being the character of very ripe red fruit, such as plum and cherry. On the palate, it is a well-structured wine, with notes of ripe fruit, soft and velvety tannins, and a balanced acidity, which gives it harmony and a tasty and quite long finish.
The 'Três Bagos Reserva red 2014' is a wine ready to drink but which has all the conditions to age and improve in the bottle. A typical Douro wine, ideal to accompany typical cuisine on cold days or cheeses.
