Lavradores de Feitoria – a producer from the Douro whose portfolio is made up of five brands: 'Lavradores de Feitoria', 'Gadiva', 'Três Bagos', 'Meruge' and 'Quinta da Costa das Aguaneiras' – has just launched its new white harvests and red wine from its entry-level brand. The DOC Douro 'Lavradores de Feitoria white 2013' and the 'Lavradores de Feitoria red 2012' can now be enjoyed from North to South of the country.
The 2013 harvest of 'Lavradores de Feitoria white' reveals a very fruity and tasty wine. On the nose it is marked by fruit and aromatic density, with citrus fruits, melon and pineapple nuances standing out. With good acidity and minerality, supported by flavours of fresh fruit such as white plum and pineapple, it is a very balanced white wine, made from Malvasia Fina, Síria (also known as Roupeiro) and Gouveio.
The 'Lavradores de Feitoria red 2012' has a bright and attractive ruby red colour. Very exuberant, it is quite fruity, clean and with the ripe fruit typical of the Douro, reminiscent of wild blackberries and black plums. It is very elegant and vinous. On the palate, it is smooth, fresh and very aromatic. Balanced, it has soft tannins and excellent acidity. In short, it is a tasty and fruity red, with a fresh and harmonious finish, characteristics achieved by the blend of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca grape varieties.
Both are fresh and fruity wines for young consumption. They are available in 750 ml bottles (RRP €3.99) and also in bag-in-box especially for Nordic countries, which prefer this format for environmental reasons.
