The results of the 31st edition of the International Wine Challenge have just been announced. The most recent vintage – 2012 – of the “Lavradores de Feitoria red” was put to the test and deserves congratulations: it won a gold medal. A very interesting result, even more so when we are talking about a wine with a recommended retail price of €3.99. The quality of a DOC Douro available in supermarkets, wine shops and restaurants.
The International Wine Challenge, which calls itself the “most influential wine competition in the world”, takes place annually in London and involves around 400 tasters from various corners of the world, including Portugal.
The 'Lavradores de Feitoria red 2012' has a bright and attractive ruby red colour. Very exuberant, it is quite fruity, clean and with the ripe fruit typical of the Douro, reminiscent of wild blackberries and black plums. It is very elegant and vinous. On the palate, it is smooth, fresh and very aromatic. Balanced, it has soft tannins and excellent acidity. In short, it is a tasty and fruity red, with a fresh and harmonious finish, characteristics achieved by the blend of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca grape varieties.
