The event, which will take place at the Porto Comercial de Cambres (Lamego) on the 14th and 15th of September, is an experience of musical and gastronomic fusion, capable of contributing to the development of wine tourism in the Douro Demarcated Region - the oldest wine region in the world.
Wine & Music Valley is an annual project with a national and international scope, capable of generating economic and tourist impact for the region. In the six-hectare venue, with capacity to receive 15,000 people per day, the offer will be varied and sophisticated, thinking about wine lovers and connoisseurs, but also about all those seeking new and different experiences, valuing moments of togetherness and conviviality.
"Wine & Music Valley was born from the desire to place the Douro on the scene of major national and international events, such as BottleRock or the Guadalupe Festival. It is an event that aims not only to promote the Douro, promoting its unique characteristics, but also to encourage companies to invest, in a sustained and regular way, in this region", says Manuel Osório, one of the people responsible for the project.
Alongside the festival's wine offerings, the musical offerings are also set to be of great importance, with Wine & Music Valley welcoming some of the biggest names on the national and international scene. The lineup for the first day is already complete, with a special highlight being a concert by one of the most iconic voices in British pop-rock. Bryan Ferry, ex-Roxy Music, also known for hits such as 'Slave to Love' (1985) and 'Let's Stick Together' (1976), will headline the 14th of September, bringing to the Douro what is expected to be a memorable concert.
On the same day, and on the same stage, other great performances will take place. One of the greatest voices of fado today, Mariza, will also take to the stage on September 14th, as will António Zambujo, known as
an essential part of national music, and Salvador Sobral, who also needs no introduction. DJ Vibe and Rui Vargas will be in charge of the DJ booth during the night.
Wine, Food & Music Festival
Inside the Wine & Music Valley venue, there will be a fun atmosphere, celebrating music, gastronomy and wine through a variety of activities and complementary programming. There will be plenty of music on the venue's three stages (including the concerts already announced and others that will soon be added to the lineup), with one of the stages being entirely dedicated to gastronomy.
At the Chef's Stage, the public will be able to enjoy gastronomic moments in the presence of renowned chefs, including live cooking shows and tastings. The names and respective programme will be announced soon. Also in the area of gastronomy, the event will feature a premium catering offer, bringing together a wide variety of proposals in an air-conditioned space with seating.
There will also be a hospitality area with cabins designed for groups, with exclusive and personalized service, and a space dedicated to wine and sensory experiences, from wine tastings to vinotherapy treatments, or the possibility of treading grapes. And to enhance the entertainment experience within the venue, there will be a Ferris wheel with panoramic and privileged views over the Douro.
Wine & Music Valley has production support from Better World, the company responsible for Rock in Rio.
